The Critical Threats Project (CTP), led by Senior Fellow Frederick W. Kagan, tracks and analyzes current and emerging challenges to American national security. The internship will focus on supporting the project’s research efforts on the global Salafi-jihadi movement, including al Qaeda, the Islamic State, and affiliated groups. Research will include open-source tracking and analysis of Salafi-jihadi activity and related political and security developments with a focus on Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Interns will assist in research for long-term projects and will work with other team members to produce analytical and data products for criticalthreats.org. Interns will also support the production of the weekly Salafi-Jihadi Movement Update.   The internship includes educational modules for developing intelligence analysis tradecraft. Interested candidates should demonstrate strong writing and analytical skills, the ability to conduct independent research, and the ability to work on a team. The American Enterprise Institute’s Center on Opportunity and Social Mobility (COSM) seeks a driven, research-oriented data intern for summer 2024. The intern will work closely with COSM scholars Kevin Corinth and Scott Winship and COSM staff on quantitative, empirically driven, and policy-informing research that aims to improve opportunity and mobility for low-income Americans. American Enterprise Institute Senior Fellow Mackenzie Eaglen specializes in defense strategy, defense budgets, military readiness, and the defense industrial base.
