The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) seeks an in-person intern for its technology policy studies program, which focuses on advancing policies to encourage innovation, competition, and growth in technology and seeks to minimize unintended consequences amid the rise of disruptive technology, such as artificial intelligence. The intern will assist AEI’s technology policy team with the program’s daily research and administrative activities and the tech policy newsletter.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a rising college sophomore or above with an outstanding academic record, excellent writing and communication skills, and strong attention to detail. The candidate should have a demonstrated interest in a wide range of technology and internet policy topics, including artificial intelligence, telecommunications, regulation in high-tech industries, antitrust and intellectual property law, digital privacy and data protection, and cybersecurity. Additionally, they should have a strong grasp of US institutions and current events. Candidates who can participate in the program in person for 30–40 hours a week are encouraged to apply.
About AEI Internships
AEI internships offer a unique opportunity for undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates to gain experience in research, writing, business, and communications at one of the nation’s leading think tanks. Competitive candidates will generally have a GPA of 3.5 or higher from a top-ranking college or university. AEI’s internship program runs for 12 weeks, and all related programming will take place in person in Washington, DC. Please see the internship program home page for updates.
