Overview

The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) Events team ensures that the more than 1,200 public and private events held annually at AEI’s headquarters are executed flawlessly. AEI scholars and staff turn to the Events team to maximize the quality of all aspects of events, including setup, audience attendance, audiovisual production, catering, registration, metrics, and billing. As the Events intern, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting AEI’s mission to foster insightful dialogue and executing impactful events that shape the future of public policy.

 

The Events intern will assist with optimizing event operations, elevating efficiency across various tasks, and executing our prestigious annual black-tie gala, which is attended by 1,200 guests. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a knack for leveraging technology to streamline processes. They will also enjoy a structured approach to project management, have excellent interpersonal communication skills, and work well on a team while taking initiative to manage independent tasks.

 

Work may include the examples below, in addition to other tasks as assigned:

  • Tracking institutional event metrics to provide the team with actionable, data-driven insights on event performance and
  • Independently managing several inventory spaces to ensure they are optimally organized and stocked.

Microsoft Office proficiency is a must; knowledge of Salesforce is a plus.

 

There will be two start dates for the fall program: September 10 and September 24. While the AEI Internship Program and all related programming will take place in-person in Washington, DC this summer, virtual interns may be accepted on a case by case basis. Please include your prefered start date and note your in-person/virtual preference in your cover letter.

 

About AEI Internships

AEI internships offer a unique opportunity for undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates to gain experience in research, writing, business, and communications at one of the nation’s leading think tanks. Competitive candidates will generally have a 3.4 GPA or higher from a top-ranking college or university. The AEI internship program runs 12 weeks.
