  • Overview

    The Open Source Policy Center (OSPC) is making policy analysis more transparent, trustworthy, and collaborative. We incubate open-source models and share new tools, events, and resources for simulating policy outcomes. Our portfolio includes over a dozen models that span a variety of policy areas, including federal tax policy, paid family leave policy, and the cost of the opioid epidemic. Our user list includes Democratic and Republican presidential administrations, congressional offices, and presidential campaigns, as well as journalists, students, members of the open-source community around the country, and the general public. To learn more about OSPC, please visit www.ospc.org.

    OSPC is looking to hire an intern with the following qualifications:

    • Programming experience (preferably, but not necessarily, with Python);
    • Strong writing and communication skills;
    • Strong interest in public policy and open science, open data, or open-source software generally; and
    • A desire to learn intrapreneurship and operations inside a leading institution like AEI.

    As an intern for OSPC, you will contribute to open-source projects and assist in developing our communications channels. You will also provide general research assistance to other OSPC team members.

    If you would like to share any software projects you have completed in the past or are working on now, please include your GitHub handle in your resume or cover letter.

    Intern Scholarship Program

    In the fall of 2019, AEI will offer up to six intern candidates a $1,000 monthly living stipend as part of a new need-based scholarship program. Our hope is to allow students who would not be able to do so without financial assistance to reap the academic, professional, and personal benefits of interning at AEI. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until Friday, August 2. To apply for the scholarship, please click here.
